This whole month, I have been repeating a three-word phrase that I my larynx has not uttered for a while.

"Pain and suffering." The minions of sleep deprivation have successfully infiltrated every organ system in my body. I can't walk ten feet without becoming short of breath. If left to my own devices for any period of time greater than 45 seconds, I will begin to drool. My immune system, having taken the brunt of the attack, has played host to a number of infectious visitors, the most recent being rotavirus. I've lost tons of weight. And my bowel habits have gone to shit (no pun intended).

And just for kicks, here's a picture of the Protonix super buddy that sits in our callroom and protects us from nursing calls, emergency room consults, and evil spirits.

And now it's back to the grind for me. Twelve months down, seventy-two to go.
